GEOGRAPHY PORTFOLIO Unit 1

Unit 1 Vocabulary:

• Coast: the final part of a continent that ends on the ocean 

• Ocean: a big bulk of water

• Mountain Range: a lot of mountains together in a row

• Valley:  place between mountains 

• River: water that flows down from the mountains to the oceans

• Lake: a small water bulk on the countries

• Oasis: place in the desert were you find water

• Desert: a big bulk of sand that is located in places near the Tropic

• Archipielago: many islands together

• Continent: many countries together

• Island: a big bulk of land that is located in the middle of the ocean or a sea

• Flood: when a river had too much water and it spread out covering citis, villages...

• Earthquake: a suddenly move of the earth plaques

• Volcano: when the lava spread out from the centre of the Earth

• Population: the total number of people

• Industry:places in witch you transform raw materials in new products

• Agriculture: this is a work in witch you obtains vegetables and fruits

• Natural Resources: resources that are found in the nature like wood, water... 
• Timber: the wood used for construction

• Dam: a barier to control the flow of water 

• Irrigation system: a system used to water the crops
